The Portrait Process
1: Initial contact via email
The client should include in the initial email:
- The purpose of the portrait
- Who it is for
- Which medium and size they would like.
- Preffered delivery date
- Any personal thoughts they might have about the portrait, for instance specific details they’d like to be included.
- Any reference photos, if available
2: Planning the Portrait
Dominic will contact the client either by phone or email to discuss the commission and possibly make suggestions that will make sure the portrait is also an interesting work of art in it’s own right. After discussing the goals of the portrait and any other details. Dominic will send either a cropped photo or sketch as a preview of the basic composition for approval.
3: Approval of Composition & Down Payment
Once the composition is approved and the down payment received, Dominic will begin the portrait.
5: Final Approval
Before the artwork is sealed or varnished, Dominic will send a photo for final client approval. At this time the client can approve the final portrait or can request alterations. Depending on the amount of changes there may be an additional fee added to the final view. Once the client has approved the portrait, it will be sealed or varnished, and framed, if the client has chosen that option.
6: Final Payment & Delivery / Shipping
After the painting is approved, the final payment will be sent by the client. Once the final payment has been received the completed artwork will be shipped, delivered, or picked up by the client depending on what has been arranged.
